To install this software on your computer, do the following:
Start by disabling all "Desktop Protection and Anti-Virus" programs. Please see the manuals that came with these programs for instructions on how to temporarily turn them off. Then:
1. Insert the HyperStudio Resource CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. If this is your first time installing HyperStudio, go to step 2.
1b. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, open your hard drive and locate your current "HyperStudio for HD" folder. Remove any of your personal stacks and special files you may have created and place them into a temporary folder somewhere on your hard drive (and after you have completed the installation process, you can then move them back into the new HyperStudio for HD folder). Then drag the "HyperStudio for HD" folder to the Trash on your desktop BUT DO NOT EMPTY YOUR TRASH YET! (We do this as a precaution in the event something should happen during the installation, you will still be able to restore your original files back to their original location.)
2. Double-click on the HyperStudio CD icon to display the HyperStudio CD window. Locate the HyperStudio for HD Installer which is at the top of the window and double-click on the icon.
3. When you see the HyperStudio welcome screen, click on the "Continue" button and you will then see an "Instructions" screen. Click on "Continue" once more and then you will see the installer options screen.
4. The installer options screen will have three options that you can choose from;
> HyperStudio Program and HS Internet Folder
> HyperStudio Program
> HS Internet Folder
> The "HyperStudio Program and HS Internet" Folder option will install both the "HyperStudio for HD" and "HS Internet" folders onto your hard drive.
> The "HyperStudio Program" option will only install the "HyperStudio for HD" folder onto your hard drive
> The "HS Internet Folder" option will only install the "HS Internet" folder onto your hard drive.
4a. Click on the option you wish to install and then click on the "Install" button below.
5. The next screen will display the name of the hard drive where your selection will be installed. If you wish to install your software onto another hard drive, click on the "Switch Disk" button until you see the name of the hard drive you want to install the software onto. Then, click on the "Install" button.
6. When the installer is finished, click on the "Quit" button.
7. Insert the "HyperStudio Installer Disk 1" into your disk drive. In a moment, a window will open with the "HyperStudio Installer" icon. Double-click on this icon and read through the on-screen instructions to complete your installation of HyperStudio.
Not all the files in the HyperStudio for HD folder are required for its operation. Strictly speaking, the only files you really need are the HyperStudio application itself, HS Samples Library, and a Home Stack. After that, it's up to you which files you think you might need.
However, you'll find the Introduction and other stacks in the HyperStudio folder to be of great help as you learn HyperStudio. Be sure to see the manual as well, for more information!
